Happy Thanksgiving!

This week was very exciting, Olivia's first Thanksgiving!  We spent this year with the Fawson side of the family.  We went up early to hang out with everyone.

Olivia and her Grandpa Chris.  Oh and her best friend Pig Wubbie.

Storytime with Grandpa.  She's started to look at books when you read them to her.

Cuddling with Grandma Christa.

Olivia's aunts use any excuse to give her a present -- a Thanksgiving gift!  This time it's goggles for use skiing or ATVing.  It looks like she's going to have to do some serious growing before she's ready for these.
The family at Thanksgiving

Olivia and her Uncle Scott (Bob's sister's husband).  She is very interested in the food preparation.

Everyone was so excited to play with Olivia.

And she loved all of the attention!

She sat up to Thanksgiving dinner in various people's arms.  The eating was very interesting to her, and she quietly watched all of the goings on with fascination.  Next time this holiday rolls around, she will be able to eat everything, we're so excited!

Another thing the holidays bring with them, are fun visitors we don't get to see that often!

Olivia's Aunt Didi flew in from law school in California.  They enjoyed meeting for the second time.

Bob's old time friend and mission companion, Mike brought his baby girl from Denver to meet Olivia.  Her name is Kate Mae and she was four weeks old.  She made Olivia look like a giant baby in comparison.  We already forgot how little brand new babies can be!

The babies are holding hands, but Kate didn't much care for it.  We think Olivia's strong grip intimidated her...
She continues to get bigger, but we think she's growing at a slightly slower pace now.

Note how she kicked off her sock the second we put her down.  She hates socks and it is impossible to keep them on her!

She loves storytime, especially with her dad.

Note:  Bob was participating in an event known as 'Movember' (Moustache + November) which is why his facial hair has looked so crazy in some of these pictures.  He has since shaved his face, and is growing his beard back.
Breaking news: We were going to post about how she is really close to rolling over.  (If you remember, she was rolling over at 2 weeks and then hasn't since.)  She would get so close and then freak out, like this picture shows.  But as we were writing this blog post, she rolled over from tummy to back three times!  She was very pleased with herself and screamed in glee.

Finally, we were messing around this week and got some fun video footage.  Bob quickly threw it into a movie and posted it on the internet, we hope you enjoy!

A relaxing week

Olivia has enjoyed her time at home this week getting back into her routine in preparation for the holidays. She is so happy to sleep in her crib and looks forward to each nap.  We often hear her in the crib, during nap time or in the middle of the night, talking to her birds.

It starts with cooing
Then she starts dancing and kicking her legs
No wonder she finds them so interesting...
We have also been helping Olivia get ready for the winter and can't wait to take her snow shoeing after today's storm.

Olivia enjoying her new snowflake pajamas

Olivia's aunts bought her a new winter coat - she is working on growing into it
Olivia continues to grow like crazy.  She is getting longer and losing some of the fat rolls on her little thighs as she stretches out.  It seems hard to believe that she could get thinner with how much she eats - she's taking 7 ounces with every bottle now.

Almost double the size of her puppy

She has begun to sit up with the help of her Bumbo chair

Although after a while she gets tired and begs to get out
Olivia and Cassandra have been coming down to visit Bob at work and have lunch.  It's fun to get together and take a little break.

Getting a sandwich at the Italian Place, but her hands just look too delicious to focus on the food
We're looking foward to sharing our Thanksgiving pictures next week.

Olivia in New York

This was an exciting week for Olivia - it was her first trip outside of Utah.  On Tuesday morning we packed our suitcases and headed for New York.  Some of the pictures aren't as high quality as usual.  We decided not to carry our camera around - it was already enough to carry all of Olivia's stuff!

Olivia enjoying the amenities of Business Class - her mother's arms!
We had to stop her from asking for a cocktail...
We made it to the hotel and Olivia didn't quite know what to think.
Until she got her pig toy and all was well again.
Cass and Olivia spent the first day at the Met and in a few parks while Bob had some meetings.
It's hard to get a good picture by yourself...
Olivia was enthralled by the bustle of the city, so we took her to Times Square.  She stared at the lights until she became overwhelmed and put herself to sleep.
No baby's life would be complete without a trip to the toy store formerly known as FAO Schwartz.    We didn't ride the ferris wheel, but...
her new rattle socks made her very happy!
After a long couple of days, Olivia was relieved to have a bath - even if it was in a sink.
We loved showing off Oliva to a friend at breakfast.

After breakfast we decided to walk through the West Village to Chelsea Market
The weather was perfect to enjoy the parks.
We'll skate next time...  Olivia enjoyed watching the zamboni prepare the ice.
Not even designer handbags could keep Olivia from eating.  Babies were a pretty uncommon sight in the shops we visited.
Olivia got very grumpy the night before we left and we had to walk her around town in the Bjorn until she fell asleep.  She was such a good sport for the entire trip.
Speaking of being a good sport, Olivia didn't mind taking the subway everywhere.  She only occasionally stirred when the train got extra noisy.
We spent the morning in Central Park before heading back to the hotel and packing to come home.   Olivia wishes she was old enough to enjoy a street vendor hot dog.
Back in the Salt Lake airport, we were all excited to get home.  Olivia was so happy to return to normalcy that she didn't even fuss when we put her in the carseat.
And no story would be complete without Olivia's opinion.  She is becoming really vocal and wanted to share her thoughts:

She really was an item in New York.  People stopped us on the street, on the subway, in restaurants, and everywhere else we went to say hello and coo at her.  Everyone was kind enough to accommodate us in any way they could which made the trip very pleasant.  We can't wait to take her back when she is old enough to remember the trip.

And of course, no post would be complete without a picture of Olivia next to her dog.  She just keeps growing and demands a full 7 ounces of formula when she wakes up in the morning now.  It's fun to listen to her 'talk' and watch her become better with her little hands.

Until next week...

Olivia Turns 2 Months Old

Olivia went to the doctor for her two month appointment, and she is doing so well! Olivia now weighs 11 pounds 8 ounces (75th percentile) and is 23 1/4 inches long (90th percentile)! We thought she was getting long, and the doctor confirmed it. She is doing well developmentally and is super healthy. She did have her first big set of vaccinations, which was very sad. She was a trooper and only cried a little bit, but it was sad to see her suffer for a couple days as she fought off a little fever. :( It was the first time we've seen her not feeling well and it was very pathetic. She just wanted to be cuddled and stay at home so we didn't do a lot this week.

Naked Olivia in profile -- Check out that chubby belly!
Somebody's ready for bed!
The poor little girl feeling sickly, look how sad she is!
Later in the week she was finally feeling better, and we all celebrated!

Olivia exercised her civic rights this week and accompanied Cassandra to the voting booths.  The ladies at the voting booth loved her, and wanted her to have her own sticker.

Olivia has fallen in love with grabbing things lately.  She loves wearing shirts and dresses with ruffles, grabbing them, and pulling them toward her face.  Her end goal is to get these things in her mouth, but she is usually not successful.

Here Olivia is hugging a burp cloth.
She has fallen in love with her 'wubbie.'  It's a soft pink blanket with a pig head attached.  She cuddles it and sucks on it and generally finds it hilarious.  It's helped in the car, she'll cuddle with it instead of crying to get out.  It'll make our trips to Logan a lot easier!

Check out that cute belly button!

Drink Milk Wear Juicy - Baby's first couture outfit!

She's getting huge!  We didn't want to wake her up from her car nap, so we'll leave you with this picture of her in her carseat and her puppy dog!

This week we're headed out for Olivia's first big trip, New York City.  We'll let you know about her great adventure next weekend.
